Why has this change been implemented? Why do we now have to pay for something that used to be free?
The service terms have always required that the end user of the data must have a valid licence for Vastuu Group’s services. Your system provider (a certified Vastuu Group partner) has been responsible for ensuring compliance with these terms. It has, however, become evident that in some cases this has not happened, and data has been used without a valid license and contrary to the agreement. For this reason, the requirement is now being actively enforced.
For example, if your company has the L‑level Valvoja service (2,400 €/year) and you retrieve reports for 280 subcontractors six times per year, the effective price per report is €1.42.
Why do we need to have a Valvoja Rajapinta (API) license?
Contractor liability information data is not invoiced to the system provider. Instead, every customer who uses or monitors contractor liability information data for their entire supplier base must purchase a Valvoja Rajapinta (API) license, regardless of whether the data is retrieved directly from Vastuu Group or through a system provider.
The data has been provided to system providers on the condition that each end customer holds a valid license. This ensures that the contractual terms are met and that the use of the data complies with the agreed rules.
How do I order the Valvoja Rajapinta (API) license?

What benefits do we get from the API license and from being a Vastuu Group customer?
Valvoja Rajapinta (API) license and a Vastuu Group customer relationship give your company a comprehensive and reliable way to manage subcontractors’ statutory compliance data. The license enables you to retrieve this information directly into your system provider’s service and ensures that all use complies with legal and contractual requirements.
The license provides several concrete benefits for your organisation:
-
Continuous and centralised monitoring of compliance data : You can track all subcontractors’ statutory compliance information reliably and in real time.
-
Access to Luotettava Kumppani data: Valvoja allows you to utilise Luotettava Kumppani information, strengthening risk management and potentially replacing costly third‑party risk assessment services.
-
Cost efficiency and operational savings: When reports are retrieved centrally through Valvoja, the effective cost per report becomes highly competitive.
-
Support for subcontractor onboarding: We help you, free of charge, recommend that your subcontractors join the Luotettava Kumppani programme, improving transparency across your entire supply chain.
-
Backup system alongside your partner system: Valvoja acts as a fallback solution if your partner system experiences downtime.
-
Clear responsibilities and better governance: A direct agreement with Vastuu Group ensures that responsibilities, obligations, and data usage rights are transparent and easy to manage.
-
Expanding Compliance as a Service solutions: We offer a wide range of compliance services and continuously develop them based on customer needs.
What should I do if I don’t want to pay for the contractor’s liability information/reports obtained via the API?
You can terminate your Valvoja Rajapinta (API) license in the customer portal by navigating to: APIs and licenses → License Management → Active services → Service cancellation. The service can also be terminated by email at asiakaspalvelu@vastuugroup.fi
After termination, the license remains valid until the end of the current billing period. In accordance with our terms of service, we do not refund service fees that have already been paid.
You can continue retrieving contractor liability information reports through your system provider until the end of the billing period. After that, report retrieval will no longer be possible.
Please remember to deactivate each system‑specific API identifier after terminating the license. You can find your API identifiers under: APIs and licenses → API identifiers→ Active API Identifiers → Close API Identifier.
Is the license price based on the number of companies queried per year, meaning that the same company can be queried as many times as needed for the same price?
The price of the license is based on the number of unique companies (unique Business IDs) whose reports you retrieve during the year.
You may retrieve the same company’s report as many times as you need throughout the year without increasing the total number of companies counted toward your license.
You may also retrieve reports through multiple different systems (using different API identifiers), as long as the reports concern the same companies. The number of systems used does not affect the license usage, only the number of unique companies does.
What happens if I have a smaller package/license and I exceed its limits?
Our system automatically upgrades your license level if your use of the Valvoja API exceeds the limits of your current tier.
Where can I see how much of my license has been used, meaning how many company reports I have retrieved?
Log in to your account and open the Valvoja Rajapinta (API) license section. Under Active services, you will find the “Retrieved Companies” feature, which allows you to monitor how many unique companies have been retrieved during the current billing period. The usage data updates automatically once per day.

Can we have multiple API identifiers in use for different systems at the same time?
A company can use multiple API identifiers at the same time, and there is no limit to how many systems you can connect. Each identifier is tied to a specific system, so using several systems simply means creating several identifiers.
A separate API identifier must be created for each system. The same identifier cannot be shared across multiple systems, because every identifier is system‑specific.
How is the billing period for the license determined?
The billing period is 12 months from the date of purchase.
