All Finns have a tax number that can be found on the tax card, in the MyTax service, or by contacting the Finnish Tax Administration by phone. The tax number is a 12-digit number that begins with ‘1000’, e.g. ‘100012345678’. All persons working at a building or installation work site must have a tax number found in the public register of tax numbers. Tax numbers are not automatically added into the tax number register, as each individual must request this separately. To request that your tax number be added into the tax number register, please contact the Finnish Tax Administration by calling +358 29 497 070 or by visiting a tax office.
Foreign workers must have a Finnish identity number to receive a tax number. You can apply for an identity number and a tax number at a tax office.
